The JobSquad Solutions Team is currently looking for a Tool Maker to work at a company located in the Lansing, MI area!

Pay/hours for position





Payrate: $22-33 (Depending on Level of Experience)
 
Hours: 2nd Shift, 2:30pm-12:30am or 3:30pm to 1:30am Monday through Saturday (Sundays as needed)
 
*Must be available to train on 1st Shift
Requirements of position




Skills and Qualifications: 
 
  • Previous experience in tool making or metalworking (3+ years preferred).
  • Experience with precision machining, tooling, and fabrication processes.
  • Familiarity with creating, maintaining, and repairing tools, jigs, fixtures, and dies.
  • Experience using manual equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of material properties, including metals like steel, aluminum, and other alloys.
  • Proficient with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, especially when it comes to tool and die repairs.
  • Ability to identify and correct issues related to tool wear, malfunction, or material flaws.
  • Capable of modifying existing tools to enhance performance and meet specific production needs.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, including tools and equipment.
  • Dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise work.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial setting with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy machinery.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings.
  • High school diploma or GED.
 
Responsibilities of position





Responsibilities: 
In this role you are responsible for creating, maintaining, and repairing tools, jigs, fixtures, and dies, with a focus on precision machining and fabrication processes. Daily tasks may involve working with manual equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders to craft high-quality tools and components. A strong understanding of material properties, including metals like steel and aluminum, is crucial for selecting the appropriate materials. The use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to ensure accuracy. Troubleshooting is a key part of the role, as you must identify and fix issues related to tool wear, malfunction, or material flaws. 
 
Additionally, Tool Makers may modify existing tools to improve performance and meet production needs. This position requires physical dexterity, the ability to lift heavy equipment, and a comfort working in an industrial environment. Effective communication with engineers and team members is essential to meet deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
