ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Growing manufacturing company in Mount Prospect, IL is looking for a 1st Shift Electrical Maintenance / Technician (TEMP TO HIRE).
NOTE: This is a temp to hire position meaning it will start out as a temporary position and convert to a full-time permanent position in 90 days. Must be able to work weekends if needed and Overtime.
Background:
Ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of electrical systems and equipment
Responsibilities:
- Install, diagnose and repair electrical and electronic components of manufacturing and utility equipment. May work with all voltages.
- Plan layout and install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
- Disassemble and repair equipment within the facility (i.e., motors, pumps, packaging equipment, HVAC equipment).
- Adjust functional parts of mechanical devices, as necessary.
- Identify materials needed and complete assigned work orders.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and reprogram programmable logic control, (PLC), devices.
- Maintain process and utility equipment by performing preventative inspections.
- Promote good work and housekeeping practices.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Manager.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
- Proficiency in using hand & power tools.
- Proficient in the use of test meter and other diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Experience in Installing and maintaining wiring, control, and lighting systems.
- Skilled at Inspecting electrical components, including transformers and circuit breakers.
Education and/or Experience
- H.S. diploma or general education degree, (GED)
- 5-7 years’ experience in manufacturing and commercial wiring, maintenance, and repair.
- Position requires training and experience in electrical wiring and electronic troubleshooting. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to fill out PM’s, work orders, and speak effectively with other of varying backgrounds such outside contractors and all levels of employees.
- Should have appropriate math skills and solve practical problems in various circumstances.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Some heavy lifting could be required (typically up to 50 pounds).
- MUST HAVE AUTHORIZATION TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES.
- Must be able to work weekends if needed and Overtime.
