Position Summary
The PC Test Technician I is responsible for inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting electronic aircraft components used in communication, navigation, and flight control systems. This role performs visual, operational, and functional testing to ensure all components meet Gables Engineering's quality standards and applicable aviation requirements.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electronics, experience using electronic test equipment, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Avionics experience is preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform operational, visual, and functional testing of electronic aircraft components to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
- Conduct various tests, including:
- Visual inspections
- Electrical continuity testing
- Functional testing
- Software flashing and loading
- Operate specialized test equipment to monitor and simulate data transmission using ARINC 429, CSDB signals, and CAN simulators.
- Document test results and complete acceptance test reports, ensuring all units under test (UUTs) have the required documentation and are ready for inspection.
- Troubleshoot electronic components, identify malfunctions, and perform basic repairs based on test results and technical analysis.
- Use dedicated computer software to perform testing and document results.
- Participate in customer and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) audits as required.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to support testing requirements and project deadlines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of electronic theory and component-level troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
- Experience operating electronic test equipment, including:
- Digital multimeters
- Oscilloscopes
- Specialized avionics test equipment
- Equipment used for environmental testing
- Strong computer skills and the ability to operate specialized testing software.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while supporting engineers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
Required Experience and Education
- Associate degree in Electronics or a related field, or equivalent military training or technical trade experience.
- Minimum of one year of experience in electronics testing, troubleshooting, or repair.
- Avionics experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
Light Work: This position requires occasionally lifting or moving up to 20 pounds and frequently lifting or moving up to 10 pounds.
- Most essential job functions are performed while sitting, with occasional walking and standing.
- Manual dexterity is required for assembling, fabricating, and handling small electronic components, involving repetitive movements of the hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Visual acuity is required to inspect circuit boards, identify small defects, handle small components, and use precision measurement instruments.
